Nottingham Youth Climate Assembly, July 2022

Hosted at the University of Nottingham, Nottingham’s first ever Citizens’ Assembly took place in July 2022.  The Assembly’s members, aged 15-18, were supported  by Nottingham Climate Assembly’s Youth Panel of young people aged up to 25.   

The residential weekend provided an opportunity for the young people involved to hear from experts in their field which helped inform the creation of their Nottingham Youth Climate Assembly manifesto based on 4 key priority areas:

  1. Food

  2. Shopping and transport

  3. Nature

  4. Transport

Subsequent to the Assembly weekend, the Youth Panel have been involved in sharing their findings with Nottingham City Council’s Deputy Leader and cabinet members, the City of Nottingham’s CN28 Programme, Nottinghamshire Youth Board, local MPs and more. In addition they Youth Panel have attended local events to speak with Nottingham-wide residents to gain support for their manifesto.
