Wednesday, 11th of January saw the first meeting of the year for the City-wide Assembly Oversight Panel. This volunteer-led group will be overseeing the organisation of the Assembly, monitoring fundraising, and ensuring that the monies raised are spent appropriately.

The Group, representing members of the sponsors, Nottingham Green Partnership, includes (L-R) Lorna Kiamba, Paul Wilkinson, Amy Coulson, Emily Brooks, Heather Ince and Sally Longford (Chair). Cllr Zafran Kahn and a member of the Nottingham Climate Assembly Youth Panel will also be joining the group.

Meeting monthly, the Oversight Panel will take strategic decisions and review the support material provided by Nottingham Climate Assembly as progress is made.

Fundraising

To date over £22,000 has been raised from supporters of the Assembly and funding applications made to the Community Lottery and several local and national charitable funds. Keep a look out for a Crowdfunding Appeal that will be launched in the next couple of months to allow you to show your support.

Local Mini-Assemblies

As part of the lead-up to the Assembly, local mini-assemblies are being organised within communities and workplaces, the first of which was held in September 2023 at the Nottingham Green Festival.

Future mini-assembles are planned as follows:

  • February 2024 - Nottingham University Hospitals Trust

  • April 2024 - the Meadows
